Dirk Niefanger (editor), Werner Wilhelm Schnabel (editor)Johann Klaj (circa 1616–1656) is considered one of the most formally and linguistically experimental poets of the German Baroque, though his period of productivity lasted only a single decade. This study addresses and contextualizes Klaj’s work from a variety of perspectives, with a focus on aesthetics, rhetoric, art history, music history, and media history, along with the cultural and social backdrop of his poetry.
